Nikki's Sweet Story ♡

It all started when I was little (because isn’t that how all love stories begin?). I found beauty in baking, I found inspiration in whimsical, elegant designs, and, as many little girls can relate to, I loved anything and everything pink. Working side by side with my mom and grandmother sparked my love for being in the kitchen, whipping up sweets for our family for holidays, birthdays, and more.

Lucky for me, my passion and love for baking has grown and developed into a career that I find joy in every day. I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu, then spent four years working in various bakeries throughout California and Colorado to expand my knowledge, learned from talented chefs (such as Pastry Chef Mellisa Root who taught me elegance and sugar go hand in hand), and perfect my craft with the goal to, someday, open my own dessert studio. From 2015–2019, I took a brief hiatus from being constantly covered in flour to work alongside my father in web design and marketing, and I learned to appreciate some alternative electronics other than stand and hand mixers—and further develop my creative skills in web design and marketing. But as my mind continued to wander back to the bakery, I circled back to where I knew I belonged, and I opened up my first “sweet” endeavor—Flourchild Dessert Studio + Sweet Tees (@shopflourchild)—in 2020.

To be able to bake for those I love and bring a smile to someone’s face as they bite into a delicious treat brings me so much joy. If Flourchild was my first born, Miette is certainly my sweet-as-can-be newborn, with some deliciously indulgent ideas up her sleeve. And I certainly wouldn’t have the honor of baking for other families if it didn’t start in my own home, with the constant support of my loving husband and my two beautiful kids—Beau and Ruby—who just so happen to make the BEST taste-testers! It’s such an honor to be able to combine my passion with my business, I can’t wait for you to try Miette Macarons.

And, as they say in France…Bon Appetit!
